Overnight Camp


 LOCATION:  Overnight Camp is held at the YMCA Camp Chandler, located outside of Wetumpka, AL on Lake Jordan. Covering 475 acres Camp Chandler is the perfect setting for week of fun and growth.

ACTIVITIES: Overnight Camp offers activities such as canoeing, sailing, skiing, riflery, archery, arts and crafts, horseback riding, and a high ropes course that thrills all participants. Certain specific activities are available for specific age groups. All activities are supervised by trained Camp Chandler staff. 
 
CHECK-IN: Campers and a guardian should arrive at Briarwood Church Fellowship Hall no later than 8:30 a.m. on the day your camp is scheduled to begin. Transportation to Camp Chandler is provided. If you miss the bus, it will be up to you to get your children to camp. There will be no refunds. Please don’t be late!!! 
 
$10 cash will be collected from each camper at check-in for canteen.
 
CHECK-OUT: The Closing Ceremony begins at 9:00 a.m.  This is a fun time of showing slides of the week, singing songs, and recognizing particular cabins. At the end of the closing ceremony, camp is officially over.  Parents should pick up their children from Camp Chandler no later than 10:00 a.m. on the last day of the camp session. Overnight Camps will require parents or guardians to sign children out in order to pick them up. A Driver’s License will be required to be shown in order for your child to leave the camp with you. On Monday all parents will be asked to give the Camp Briarwood office a list of those people who may take your children out of camp. Children will not be allowed to leave camp with anyone not on the “Pick-Up” list, so please be sure to add possible babysitters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, or carpool drivers to the list!

PACKING LIST:  long pants (for hiking & horseback riding), shorts & shirts, swimsuit (no bikinis), 2 pair shoes (one pair of closed-toe shoes), jacket, pajamas, underwear (for each day), robe, towels (bath & beach), blanket & 2 sheets OR sleeping bag, pillow, washcloth, toothbrush & toothpaste, flashlight, comb, soap, Bible, notebook & pencil, stamps and stationery, hair dryer.   OPTIONAL: battery operated fan

There will be a mail call each evening. This has become a fun part of the day. Why? Because nobody just gets to pick up his or her mail. Campers must “earn” their mail. I’m sure they will tell you all about this time, which is all done in good fun. As far as getting mail back home? It’s rare, but we’ve heard that it does happen.
